My favorite illustrator of all time...

...is Wallace Tripp.
Do you know Wallace Tripp?
These three books are my FAVORITES. All, sadly, out of print (don't get me started), but available through used-book sites. His animal characters are so lively & wonderful, his linework is amazing, I just adore him.
Track down his books if you can, it's worth the effort!!

Here are some links for used books (try eBay too), if you are looking to pick them up:

I've never heard of Wallace Tripp, either. I love the title of that second book - hilarious! Thanks for the heads up on this illustrator!

Phew, I'm glad I'm not alone - this illustrator is completely new to me! But I'll now see if there are any of his books in the library

Oh, I remember these books! (does that mean I'm old or that I read anything not nailed down when I was a kid?)

I love the expressions on Tripp's animal faces, while they still look very much like real-live animals.

I was thinking about scanning some interior images & posting, very little is online. He does have a Facebook page, I think run by his son?

I've never heard of Wallace Tripp before but you've piqued my interest. So many good out of print books deserve to be back in print.

I just LOVE Wallace Tripp's illustrations! I have a the book about an elephant that sneezed from when I was in Kindergarden. My teacher signed it and gave it to me on my birthday. I have been reading it to my daughter who is in kindergartener this year. I should really get more of his books. I love you illustrations. What fun this has been to comment on blogs and find new and talented people!

Oh! Didn't he do No Flying in the House by Betty Brock? Cutesy dog pictures ever! Seriously, I have to flip through the pages when I recommend it to students and show them Gloria!

Tripp's work was so wonderful. He always drew some of the best animals in the business. I'm thrilled to have an original of his from his 1973 book, "Headlines".
